According to Pakistan’s military, Indian forces fired air-to-surface missiles that struck three of their airbases, prompting an immediate and forceful retaliation. In response, Pakistan launched coordinated missile and drone strikes targeting Indian military installations.
Prime Minister Confirms Retaliation
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the military operation, saying that the country has “responded strongly and powerfully” to what he called Indian aggression. He stated that the strikes specifically targeted Indian bases that had launched attacks on Pakistan.
“Today we have given a befitting response to India and avenged the blood of innocents,” said PM Sharif.

Panic in Srinagar After Loud Explosions
In Srinagar, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, residents were shaken by two powerful explosions early Saturday morning. According to journalist Umar Mehraj, the blasts occurred while shops and businesses were just opening for the day.
“People say these were some of the loudest explosions they’ve ever heard,” Mehraj reported.
Local residents, especially those living near military areas, are increasingly anxious. Many fear they have no safety infrastructure like bunkers or shelters in case the conflict escalates.
“People here feel vulnerable. There’s fear and uncertainty on the ground,” Mehraj added.
The Bigger Picture
This exchange marks a dangerous escalation between two nuclear-armed countries. Both sides have now acknowledged military action and casualties. With civilians increasingly caught in the crossfire and panic spreading, global leaders may soon be forced to intervene diplomatically to avoid further violence.
