New Delhi:
Actor Arjun Rampal has once again found himself in the social media spotlight, but this time it’s not for a new project. An old comment he made during a 2021 interview has resurfaced, stirring conversation and criticism online.

The Controversial Remark

In the interview, given to Hindustan Times while promoting Madhur Bhandarkar’s 2012 film Heroine, Rampal spoke about filming intimate scenes with co-star Kareena Kapoor. He was quoted saying that he “enjoyed getting cosy with Bebo” and still remembered shooting those romantic sequences fondly.

Social Media Backlash

The quote recently reappeared on Reddit, where users questioned the tone and professionalism of the statement. One post, calling the remark “weird and unprofessional,” quickly gained traction. Several commenters expressed discomfort, with one writing, “Didn’t know people could be this casual about objectifying back then.”

Others speculated that such statements might have been a marketing tactic to draw attention to the film. However, some were quick to label the choice of words as “cheap” and “in bad taste.”

About Heroine

Released in 2012, Heroine featured Kareena Kapoor in the lead role alongside Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Mugdha Godse, and Divya Dutta. The story followed Mahi, a celebrated actress whose personal and professional life unravels after a troubled relationship with a married man.

Kareena Kapoor’s Take on Intimate Scenes

Over the years, Kareena Kapoor has been selective about her on-screen intimate moments. Speaking to actor Gillian Anderson for The Dirty Magazine earlier this year, she explained her perspective:

“We don’t view sexuality or sex as part of the human experience the way we should. It needs to be approached with more respect before putting it on screen. That’s my belief.”

The resurfacing of Rampal’s comment has reignited discussions around how actors speak about their co-stars and intimate scenes, and whether industry attitudes have shifted in the last decade.
