In a major escalation between the two nuclear-armed nations, Pakistan has launched a military operation named ‘Bunyan-un-Marsoos’ in retaliation to recent Indian missile strikes on its airbases. The announcement came early Saturday through Pakistan’s state-run television, which stated that multiple Indian locations were under attack.
The operation’s name, ‘Bunyan-un-Marsoos’, means “solid structure” or “impenetrable wall” in Arabic, suggesting a firm and powerful counterattack. According to Pakistan’s military, the strikes targeted Indian BrahMos missile storage sites and airbases located in Pathankot and Udhampur, both situated in the sensitive region of India-administered Kashmir.
This comes after India reportedly fired missiles at three Pakistani airbases, a move that Pakistan claims triggered the need for a strong response. While Pakistan’s army confirmed the attack from India, they added that most of the missiles were intercepted by their defense systems.
Residents in the conflict-hit region of Indian-controlled Kashmir reported loud explosions in cities like Srinagar, Jammu, and Udhampur—a clear sign of the growing intensity on both sides. According to military sources cited by Reuters, Indian airstrikes inside Pakistan are still ongoing.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s retaliatory operation is actively targeting Indian locations, escalating the conflict further and drawing concern from international observers.
In addition to missile strikes, the Indian Army reported drone sightings at 26 different locations along the India-Pakistan border, particularly in Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and areas bordering Pakistan. The Indian military has deployed counter-drone systems to engage and neutralize the threats.
“The situation is under close and constant watch,” said an Indian Army spokesperson, assuring that prompt action is being taken wherever required.
This military escalation follows a deadly gun massacre last month that killed several civilians in Indian-administered Kashmir. India blames Pakistan-based groups for the attack, but Islamabad has denied any involvement and called for an international investigation, which India has rejected.
With both sides engaged in military action and civilian areas increasingly affected, global leaders are closely monitoring the situation. Airspaces have already seen major disruptions, and the region is on high alert.
The situation remains tense, and any further provocation could push both nations deeper into conflict.
